Approach

 Change

The process of change, although difficult and time consuming, can be energizing and inspiring.  I believe that one of the most important aspects of this process, in addition to putting words to one’s experiences, is the development of an ongoing relationship between the therapist and the patient.  The relationship is crucial to the process of change because, more often than not, one realizes things about him or herself in relation to the other. Additionally, I see therapy as a collaborative journey that may have its ups and downs, but which ultimately reaches new heights due to the committent of both parties in the process. I believe it is important for the person seeking help to be able to speak about whatever comes to mind at any given moment during a session and to communicate in a way that feels most comfortable to his or her own unique personality.
